AnimeW Welcome friends talking: hello, AnimeW fans! Welcome to another blog post where I share my thoughts and opinions on the latest anime shows and movies. Today, I want to talk about something that many of us can relate to: talking with family about our anime hobby.
If you’re like me, you probably grew up watching anime and loving every minute of it. You enjoyed the colorful characters, the exciting stories, the amazing animation, and the catchy songs. You collected posters, DVDs, figurines, and cosplay outfits. Made friends with other anime enthusiasts online and offline. You felt happy and proud to be an anime fan.
But not everyone in your life may share your passion. Maybe your parents think anime is childish or violent. Maybe your siblings tease you for being a nerd or a weeb. Your relatives don’t understand why you spend so much time and money on anime. Maybe they even try to convince you to stop watching anime and do something else.
AnimeW Welcome friends talking. How do you deal with that? Do you talk to your family about your anime hobby without getting into arguments or feeling hurt? How do you explain to them why anime is important to you and why they should respect your choices?
Well, I have some tips for you that might help. These are based on my own experience and what I’ve learned from other anime fans. Of course, every family is different and every situation is unique, so you may have to adapt these tips to your own circumstances. But I hope they can give you some ideas and inspiration.
AnimeW Welcome friends talking Tip #1: Be honest and confident.
Don’t hide your anime hobby from your family. Lie about what you’re watching or doing. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. Be honest and confident about who you are and what you like. Show them that anime is a part of your identity and personality, not something to be ashamed of or embarrassed by.
AnimeW Welcome friends talking Tip #2: Be respectful and understanding.
Don’t judge your family for not liking anime or not knowing much about it. Get angry or defensive when they ask questions or make comments. Don’t try to force them to watch anime or agree with you. Be respectful and understanding of their views and feelings, even if they’re different from yours. Show them that you appreciate their concern and care, even if they don’t express it in the best way.
Tip #3: Be informative and persuasive.
Don’t assume that your family knows everything about anime or nothing at all. Not use jargon or slang that they may not understand. Don’t bombard them with facts or opinions that they may not care about. Be informative and persuasive when you talk to them about anime. Explain to them what anime is, how it works, why you like it, what benefits it brings to you, how it connects you with other people, etc. Use examples and stories that they can relate to or find interesting. Show them that anime is not just a hobby, but a culture, an art form, a source of inspiration, a way of life.
AnimeW Welcome friends talking Tip #4: Be open and flexible.
Don’t expect your family to change their minds or attitudes overnight. Not give up or get frustrated if they don’t seem to listen or understand. Don’t close yourself off or isolate yourself from them. Be open and flexible when you talk to them about anime. Give them time and space to process what you say and how you feel. Listen to their feedback and respond accordingly. Try different approaches and methods until you find what works best for both of you. Show them that you’re willing to compromise and cooperate, as long as they respect your boundaries and preferences.
AnimeW Welcome friends talking Tip #5: Be positive and fun.
Don’t make talking about anime a chore or a burden for your family. Not focus on the negative aspects or the potential problems of your hobby. Don’t make it seem like a serious or boring topic that they have to endure. Make talking about anime a positive and fun experience for your family. Share with them the joy and excitement that anime brings to you. Invite them to join you in watching an anime show or movie that they might like or find amusing. Surprise them with a gift or a gesture related to anime that they might appreciate or enjoy. Show them that anime is not only important to you, but also fun for them.
These are my tips for talking with family about your anime hobby. I hope they can help you have more meaningful and enjoyable conversations with your loved ones. Remember, talking with family about anime doesn’t have to be hard or stressful. It can be easy and fun, if you follow these tips.
