MY STORY IN POP I always loved pop music since I was a kid. I used to sing along to the radio and pretend I was a superstar. I dreamed of becoming famous and performing on big stages. But life had other plans for me. I grew up in a poor family and had to work hard to make ends meet. I never had the chance to pursue my passion for music.
Until one day, everything changed. I was working as a cashier at a supermarket when a famous pop producer came in. He was looking for some snacks and I happened to be his cashier. He noticed my name tag and asked me if I liked pop music. I said yes, of course, and he asked me if I could sing. I was nervous but I decided to take a risk and sang a few lines of his latest hit song.

He was impressed by my voice and asked me for my phone number. He said he wanted to give me an opportunity to audition for his label. I couldn’t believe it! This was my chance to make my dreams come true!
The next day, he called me and invited me to his studio. He said he had written a song for me and wanted me to record it. He said it was a catchy pop tune that would make me a star. I was so excited and nervous at the same time.
I went to his studio and met him there. He played me the song and gave me the lyrics. He said he wanted me to sing it with emotion and attitude. Said he wanted me to be confident and sassy.
I looked at the lyrics and felt a shock. The song was called “MY STORY IN POP” and it was about how I had overcome all the obstacles in my life and became a pop sensation. It was a very personal and inspiring song, but it was also full of lies.

I was born in a small town, where the only thing that mattered was the radio. I grew up listening to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Elvis Presley. Dreamed of becoming a rock star, but I had no talent for singing or playing an instrument. So I decided to do the next best thing: write songs for other people.
I moved to Los Angeles when I was 18, with nothing but a notebook and a pen. I knocked on every door I could find, hoping to get a chance to pitch my songs to some producer or artist. But no one was interested in my lyrics. They said they were too cheesy, too cliché, too boring. I was about to give up and go back home, when I met a guy named Max Martin.
Max Martin was a Swedish songwriter and producer who had written hits for Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and NSYNC. He liked my style and offered me a job as his assistant. He said he could teach me the secrets of writing pop songs that would make millions of people dance and sing along. I was thrilled and accepted his offer.

For the next few years, I worked with Max Martin on some of the biggest pop songs of the 2000s. I helped him write “Oops!…I Did It Again”, “I Want It That Way”, “It’s Gonna Be Me”, and many more. Learned how to craft catchy hooks, memorable melodies, and clever rhymes. I also learned how to use metaphors, similes, and alliterations to make the lyrics more interesting and fun.
But I wasn’t satisfied with just writing songs for others. I wanted to be the one who performed them. I wanted to be the one who got the applause, the fame, and the fortune. So I secretly recorded some demos of my own songs and sent them to different record labels. And one of them liked what they heard. They offered me a contract and a chance to release my own album.
I was overjoyed and quit my job with Max Martin. I thought I had finally made it. But I was wrong. My album flopped. It sold only a few thousand copies and got terrible reviews. The critics said my songs were generic, derivative, and uninspired. They said I had no personality, no charisma, no originality. They said I was a wannabe who tried to copy other artists’ styles and failed miserably.

I was devastated and humiliated. I realized that writing pop songs was not as easy as it seemed. It required more than just following a formula or using some tricks. It required passion, creativity, and authenticity. Required something that I didn’t have. That’s why I decided to quit music altogether and become a plumber instead.
