Resurrection Ertugrul English subtitles. Erdoğan defends ‘Resurrection Ertugrul’ President Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken out in defense of the popular Turkish TV series “Resurrection Ertugrul”, saying it is important to maintain public interest in history. “Resurrection Ertugrul” tells the story of the 13th century warrior Ertugrul Gazi and his son Osman, who later founded the Ottoman dynasty. Public broadcaster TRT is facing criticism for airing a promotional clip for the show during a news broadcast about last week’s suicide bomb attack in Istanbul. Some social media users accused TRT of using the attack for commercial purposes, and said it was disrespectful to the victims and their families. “It is very important that we keep our people’s interests in history alive,” Erdoğan said on Sunday. “This is what these TV series do.”

The Mongols had invaded and conquered much of Anatolia, and the Seljuk dynasty was in decline. In 1288, Ertugrul became the chief of his tribe. He sought to create an alliance with the Seljuks and other Muslim lords in order to oppose the Mongol Empire. In 1290, he met with Osman Ghazi, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, and agreed to join forces. The Kayi tribe fought alongside the Ottomans against the Mongols at the Battle of Köse Dağ in 1293.
The Kayi tribe played a key role in defeating the Mongols and helping to establish the Ottoman Empire.
The story of Ertuğrul begins with the death of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty. As was customary, his son and successor. Orhan, sought to solidify his rule by marrying off his younger brother, Alaeddin, to a princess from a neighboring kingdom. Alaeddin was given the hand of the daughter of the bey (ruler) of Karasığacık, a small frontier town in Anatolia. Not long after the newlyweds settled in Karasığacık. News arrived that the Byzantine emperor had sent an army to besiege Constantinople. He was taken in by his uncle Orhan and raised at the court of Bursa. As he came of age, He asked permission to leave Bursa and go east to claim his rightful inheritance. From there he began to build up his own power base. Slowly but surely expanding his territory until he ruled over a large swath of land in Anatolia. In addition to being a skilled military leader, Ertuğrul was also known for being just and fair with his subjects.
